I live a simple life, and part of that simplicity is having clothing made from all-natural fibres. My go-to fabrics are cotton and linen. That means that ironing is a part of my life, whereas in this modern world, most people have stopped ironing and use synthetics to assist them with this task. I actually like ironing. It’s part of my Self-Care Sunday. I wash and iron on Sunday afternoons, so I’m ready for the week.
I enjoy ironing while listening to music and appreciate the sensation of the iron gliding over the fabric. To get the finish I want, I use an ironing spray that I make myself. It’s a simple three-ingredient recipe that I mix up in a spray bottle and shake before using. The scent I chose was lavender, but you could substitute another scent if you choose. Lavender is a delightful old-fashioned scent that I adore. I think it suits my old-fashioned lifestyle and belief in simple living. Here is my recipe:
Ingredients:
- One cup of distilled water
- One-third of a cup of ethanol
- Thirty-five drops of lavender essential oil.
You will need a spray bottle and a funnel to pour these ingredients into the bottle. Once all of the ingredients have been added, close the bottle and shake it. Always shake before using.
Ironing sprays make this job easier and more enjoyable. If you’re like me, you already enjoy ironing and the instant gratification you get from a job well done when you hang up beautiful, all-natural fibre clothing. Every little thing you do in a simple life can be turned into a pleasure. It’s a state of mind, but a little lavender always helps.
As always, live well.
Valerie
That sounds really lovely. I must give it a try. Thanks Valerie.
Where can I buy ethanol from or can I use Isopropyl.
Yes, you can. It is usually at the chemist.
